As doenças cardiovasculares são o inimigo número um das mulheres. De cada dez, seis morrem de infarto, principalmente após a menopausa. E a maioria não tem consciência disso, pois concentra toda a preocupação em exames ginecológicos, como os de mama e do colo do útero.
Para alertar o sexo feminino sobre os riscos do coração, o Programa Bem Estar convidou os cardiologistas Roberto Kalil, que também é consultor do programa, e Otávio Gebara, professor livre-docente da Faculdade de Medicina da USP.
E as brasileiras são líderes das Américas em acidente vascular cerebral (AVC): têm três vezes mais o problema que as americanas e canadenses.
Entre os principais fatores de risco das mulheres estão: hipertensão, colesterol, diabetes, obesidade abdominal, sedentarismo, cigarro e interação entre fumo e anticoncepcional (que a partir dos 30 anos pode causar trombose venosa e uma consequente embolia pulmonar). De acordo com o especialista, 90% dos riscos são determinados por esses fatores e pelo estilo de vida, contra 10% da carga genética. Ou seja, é possível mudar esse quadro.
Após a menopausa, o risco aumenta ainda mais: a mulher deixa de ter o corpo em formato de pera e passa a ser “maçã” (veja arte acima). Isso significa que o depósito de gordura abandona as coxas e o bumbum para se concentrar ao redor do abdômen e na parte superior do corpo. Cinturas acima de 80 cm para o sexo feminino e de 94 cm para o masculino já devem acionar o sinal de alerta, de acordo com a Federação Internacional de Diabetes.
Ao lado do cálculo do Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) – divisão do peso pela altura ao quadrado -, a circunferência da cintura é usada para medir o risco cardiovascular de uma pessoa, pois é simples e de fácil acesso: basta uma fita métrica.

1. Faça um exame médico
Antes de sair andando ou correndo por aí, consulte um cardiologista e um ortopedista. O primeiro vai analisar a quantas anda seu sistema cardiovascular e o segundo dará uma boa olhada no aparelho locomotor, observando, por exemplo, se os joelhos estão em boas condições para a atividade que você pretende fazer. Um bom professor de educação física costuma sugerir essas visitas aos especialistas, antes mesmo de planejar o treino propriamente dito.
2. Invista em equipamentos de qualidade
“Um par de tênis com sistema de amortecimento diminui o impacto da pisada e protege as articulações, ensina Ricardo Cury, ortopedista e professor do Grupo de Cirurgia do Joelho e Trauma Esportivo da Faculdade de Medicina da Santa Casa de São Paulo. E, em vez de peças de algodão, prefira short e camiseta de tecido sintético, que facilitam a perda de calor, são mais leves e, por isso mesmo, mais confortáveis.
3. Alongue-se
Esse tipo de exercício é fundamental para aumentar a flexibilidade das pernas e preparar os músculos para a atividade física propriamente dita. Mas atenção com o alongamento depois da prática esportiva — ele deve ser leve para não ultrapassar os limites do corpo. Lembre-se: após a atividade física, há um desgaste natural em todo o corpo. Então, se você não pegar leve no estica-e-puxa, podem ocorrer microlesões.
4. Hidrate-se
Quem pretende caminhar ou correr precisa criar o hábito de beber bastante água, até porque ela vai sendo perdida conforme nos exercitamos. E, em percursos mais longos, leve um cantil para não ficar com o tanque vazio.
5. Escolha o melhor local
Especialmente para quem está começando, um terreno muito duro, irregular ou íngreme contribui para problemas nas articulações. A pessoa força uma determinada região e pode, por exemplo, desenvolver uma tendinite ou uma torsão, explica Cláudio Pavanelli, fisiologista do esporte da Universidade Federal de São Paulo, a Unifesp. Por isso, prefira a grama ou até mesmo a esteira, se você ainda não está acostumado a dar voltas e voltas pelo bairro. Ah! os cantos de ruas, perto das valetas, geralmente são inclinados. Então, evite-os para não sofrer uma sobrecarga nos joelhos.
6. O melhor horário
Prefira os períodos do dia com temperatura mais amena. O calor excessivo acaba limitando seu treinamento. Outra coisa: é melhor sair por aí quando houver trânsito menos intenso. Assim, você faz seu exercício com mais segurança e menos poluição. Seus pulmões agradecem.
7. Atenção na posição dos braços
O ideal é que você deixe os antebraços paralelos ao solo. Isso quer dizer que, no plano, eles devem ficar em um ângulo de 90o em relação ao resto do corpo. Repare, porém, que, ao subir, a postura muda. Assim, você ganha equilíbrio, o que torna todos os outros movimentos mais harmônicos.
8. Olha o sinal vermelho!
Esse é um obstáculo inevitável para quem corre pelas ruas da cidade. E a ordem é não ficar parado. Por isso, quando não for possível prosseguir, dê pequenas voltas enquanto aguarda a luz verde. Ou vá até determinado ponto da calçada e retorne.
9. Respire direito
É simples assim: inspire pelo nariz e expire pela boca. Só que, ao imprimir um ritmo mais veloz ao exercício, acaba-se abrindo a boca na hora errada para levar mais ar para os pulmões. Isso pode ser evitado — basta não acelerar mais do que o habitual.
10. Tome um banho frio
Após a atividade física, alongue-se levemente mais uma vez, como o recomendado no item 3, e fique embaixo da água em temperatura baixa. Uma ducha fria evita a inflamação dos músculos, relaxa a região e minimiza as dores, sugere Ricardo Cury. Fonte: Blog Saúde
