Para ser saudável e resistente, o corpo deve ter de 80% a 82% de músculos e apenas de 18% a 20% de gorduras. Ter a musculatura forte e desenvolvida é importante para sustentar os ossos e prevenir fraturas, como explicaram os médicos do esporte Gustavo Magliocca e Fernanda Lima.
Ao exercitar os músculos, a pessoa pode continuar com o mesmo peso, mas pode perder medidas. Dois indivíduos que pesam o mesmo número podem ter a aparência diferente e isso significa que um tem mais músculos do que o outro, como mostra o infográfico abaixo. A gordura ocupa mais espaço no corpo e pode se concentrar na barriga, por exemplo.
Estudos recentes mostram que exercitar a musculatura estimula a produção de substâncias que defendem o organismo de invasores e ainda aumenta a produção de hormônios que auxiliam no metabolismo da glicose e das gorduras.
Além disso, ter os músculos desenvolvidos garante um envelhecimento ativo, com mais autonomia e também uma melhora na autoestima já que ajudam no contorno do corpo.
Porém, é importante alertar que o desenvolvimento muscular é diferente para cada pessoa e depende muito de fatores genéticos, do biotipo e também da quantidade de fibras musculares do corpo.
Fibras do tipo 1 são aeróbias, de pouca força e resistência; já fibras do tipo 2 têm ação rápida, de força e explosão – quem tem mais o primeiro tipo consegue desenvolver mais os músculos. A atividade mais eficiente nesse processo é a musculação, porém qualquer exercício de força pode aumentar a massa muscular, também conhecida como massa magra.
Existem opções dentro da musculação que oferecem menos riscos às articulações, como os aparelhos pneumáticos que visam preservar a saúde dos músculos, não desenvolvê-los, e também os exercícios funcionais, que causam desequilíbrio e exigem controle e força muscular, como os que utilizam bolas, por exemplo.
Pessoas que têm entre 20 e 35 anos estão no auge do desenvolvimento muscular do corpo. A partir dessa idade, tanto o homem como a mulher começam a ter uma perda gradual, principalmente se forem sedentários. Há centenas “fórmulas mágicas” para enxugar os quilinhos a mais. São dietas de origem suspeita e que podem colocar a saúde em risco. No entanto, para perder peso de forma saudável, existem apenas três passos: praticar exercícios físicos com regularidade, manter uma dieta equilibrada e, principalmente, não descuidar da autoestima.
De acordo com o endocrinologista Julio César Santos, o último ítem é indispensável para emagrecer e não readquirir o peso novamente. É ele também que faz com que você sabote o regime ou crie disciplina para levar adiante a meta de afinar a silhueta. “Autoestima baixa significa, entre outras coisas, uma grande insegurança. Uma pessoa insegura dificilmente se sente motivada a desafios grandiosos. E perder peso é um grande desafio”, analisa o endocrinologista.
A ligação entre autoestima e perda ou aumento do peso é estreita. Se a primeira estiver em baixa os reflexos serão sentidos no corpo.
A autoestima em alta eleva a confiança e a determinação, dois fatores fundamentais para que uma dieta seja bem sucedida. “Emagrecer é um processo lento, assim como comer é prazeroso. As pessoas têm uma tendência natural em descontar naquilo que comem os seus problemas e angústias. Esta combinação destrói qualquer regime”, explica a psicóloga Ieda Cardoso. Segundo a profissional, pessoas com baixa autoestima encontram na alimentação uma válvula de escape.
Naturalmente e quase sem perceber, uma pessoa que sofre de baixa autoestima come além do que o corpo necessita. Com isso, os pneuzinhos aparecem e, junto com eles, a frustração. “É um ciclo vicioso e difícil de ser quebrado. A pessoa se sente infeliz e desvalorizada, passa a comer mais e, quando tenta emagrecer e percebe a dificuldade de eliminar o peso, ela perde a confiança e abandona o plano de emagrecimento”, complementa Julio César.
O desânimo provocado por uma baixa autoestima culmina, inevitavelmente, na dificuldade de acreditar em si mesmo. Sem confiança, os pensamentos negativos e autodestrutivos, como o “eu não consigo fazer nada direito”, ganham espaço e o estímulo necessário para mudar hábitos e incorporar uma vida mais saudável fica praticamente inexistente.
Além de prejuízos estéticos, estar acima do peso pode desencadear problemas de saúde, principalmente os cardiovasculares. “A obesidade é um fator de risco para várias doenças e pode ser fatal”, ressalta o endocrinologista.
De acordo com Ieda Cardoso, os sinais de baixa autoestima são fáceis de identificar. “Acreditar que é passado para trás o tempo inteiro ou se achar sempre vítima, duvidar de seu potencial para realizar tarefas, evitar se expressar e deixar de opinar sobre algo, ser dependente da opinião alheia, sempre enxergar o pior de todas as situações e ocultar a sua personalidade são alguns deles”. Contornar esses traços com ajuda de tratamento psicológico, diz a profissional, é fundamental para dar espaço para aumentar o bem-estar. “Consequentemente, como num efeito dominó, quem aumenta autoestima consegue lidar melhor com desafios, inclusive o de emagrecer”, diz a profissional.
